What Is Community Action?

Community Action Agencies are private non-profit or public organizations that were created with the passage of the Economic Opportunities Act of 1964 as a part of President Lyndon B. Johnson “War on Poverty.”

Community Action Agencies’ work to leverage resources to assist low income individual and families to acquire and gain access to new opportunities to become self-sufficient.
